Sarita's niece, Christina, made her First Holy Communion at St. Matthew's in El Paso, May 12, 2012

Her Tio Tim took pictures and made her this special photoart on canvas. The photo is very special

because it includes Fr. Bob Schikora's chalice from his first Mass last year as a newly ordained priest.

The chalice has an embedded diamond from Tim's & Fr. Bob's grandmother's wedding ring.

Fr. Bob Schikora and Tim O'Malley are first cousins.

O'Malley Family Matriarch Passes Into Eternal Life - Marie Isabelle Schikora O'Malley 1913-2011

Marie Isabelle Schikora O'Malley

Mom entered eternal life February 25th, 2011. We now have a new saint to cheer us on as we run the race. May we all finish the race as well as she did! (Hebrews 12:1-6)

These amazing collections includes 8mm movie clips that date back to the 1930s

New Schikora Family Photo

Special thanks to Cathy Clark for sharing it with us!

The Schikora Family 1922

If this photo was taken in the Fall, the approximate ages are, from left to right:

Isabelle, 8; Lillian, 14; Maude,37; Vince, 3; Rosemary, 5; Max, 41; Raymond, 12.

It is striking how much Isabelle and her daughter, Maureen, look alike at that age.

Isabelle thinks that the picture may have been taken just before their move to Pasadena, CA, in 1922.

Bob Schikora is Ordained a Deacon!

Ordination

On May 15th, my cousin Bob Schikora was ordained a Deacon for the Diocese of Saginaw, Michigan. Next year in May, Bob is on

track to be ordained a Priest. Bob was in the seminary out of high school, but decided to leave to raise a family. In the picture above,

Bob is surrounded by his family: back row left: his daughter Megan, Deacon Bob, his sister Joanie and her husband Mike. The front row

starting from the left, Joanie's son Mark, Bob's grand-daughter Samantha, daughter of Rob - Bob's son, Rob, and Julie - Joanie's daughter,

and Marc - Julie's husband. We are all very proud of Bob and excited for him. Even more we are blessed by the gift Bob is to the Church.

I can't think of anyone more qualified to be a priest and to counsel families, than one who has been there and done that! Amen?

Bob is my Mom's (Isabelle Schikora O'Malley) nephew. We all hope to be there next May in 2011 with Bob in Saginaw! Congratulations, Bob!

What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?

The 56th Annual National Day of Prayer took place Thursday, May 3, 2007.

The theme for 2008 was "America, Unite in Prayer" and is based on

the verse from II Chronicles 7:14 which states: "If my people, who are called by my name,

will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways,

then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." NIV

Family History

Check out the O'MalleyCat Family Tree

The O'Malley Family Tree is remarkable; it consists of 648 individuals, and 172 marriages.

The average lifespan is 56 years, 8 months, and has dramatically increased over the last several decades.

The earliest known birthdate is 1784 - George Carr. The tree consists of 9 generations and 168 surnames.

Just as remarkable are the number of photographs and the tintypes that have been preserved through digital technology!

I invite all family, in-laws,and out-laws, to send any photos, information, as well as corrections to the email address at the bottom of this page.

Click on the Coat of Arms to view the O'Malley Family History

The O'Malley Coat of Arms

The O'Malley Coat-of-Arms

O'Malley Coat of Arms

There are multiple versions of the O?Malley coat-of-arms in circulation. The earliest known is a stone plaque with the O'Malley

coat-of-arms on the wall of the Clare Island Abbey, which was built and funded by the O?Malley?s and dates from the 17th century.

It is also the assumed resting place of Granuaile. The plaque has an inscription in Latin: TERRA MARIQUE POTENS, (powerful on

land and sea). For Grace O'Malley, and no doubt the other members of the powerful O'Maille clan, it was their might on land and sea

which gained them their advantage. The coat of arms on the right is a contemporary version that I designed based on previous collections.

Of most importance, it is based on the earliest known shown on the left. The elements consist of armor; Celtic swords; bows & arrows,

perhaps one for each of the three main galleons in their fleet; together, they denote their might on land and sea. The steed denotes their

spirit in war, and wild boar symbolizes their fierce tenacity in battle; the ship denotes their exploits and might at sea, the Celtic crosses and

Celtic knots, particularly the triskele or triangular knots, symbolize the Trinity and their Christian faith. Like eternity, the knots are endless.
